Study Shows Improved Menopause Symptoms with Comprehensive Care Model

Progyny's recent study reveals over 70% of women report symptom relief through personalized menopause care.

Recent research from Progyny, Inc. highlights the effectiveness of their Menopause and Midlife program in alleviating menopause-related symptoms. Over 70% of women involved in the study reported significant improvements, particularly those who benefited from personalized coaching alongside care from trained professionals.

Significant Outcomes from the Study

In the findings released during Menopause Awareness Month, Progyny emphasized the rising need for substantive menopause support. The study revealed notable outcomes:

  • Widespread Improvement: 70.8% of participants reported an overall enhancement in their menopause experiences, with an average increase of 7.1 points on the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS).
  • Effective Combination of Support: Women receiving personalized coaching and care from menopause-trained providers saw a 7.6-point uptick on the MRS, significantly higher than the 3.3 points experienced by those with coaching alone.
  • Symptom Reduction: Improvements were observed in all 11 symptoms measured, including 52% reduced hot flashes, 50% less vaginal dryness, and a 42% decrease in sleep disturbances, which are critical to overall health.
  • Relief for Severe Symptoms: Approximately 40.4% of members who initially faced severe symptoms reported moving into a less severe category post-treatment.

The Importance of Specialized Care

Despite a growing focus on menopause, many women still encounter obstacles to finding qualified care. A 2023 report highlighted that less than one-third of OB-GYN residency programs include training in menopause management, resulting in a shortage of experts in this field.

Addressing these challenges is essential, especially given research indicating that menopause-related symptoms can lead to $1.8 billion in lost productivity annually in the United States, largely due to missed work days.

A Comprehensive Support Model

Progyny’s Menopause and Midlife program integrates education, one-on-one coaching, and access to a vetted network of menopause-trained providers. The approach is crafted to assist women in understanding their symptoms, exploring treatment avenues, and receiving the clinical care suited to their unique situations.

A Progyny member shared her experience:

“A few months ago, the only thing I knew about menopause was that hot flashes were involved. I felt like a shell of a human when I first contacted Progyny... I have a new lease on life. I feel so fortunate.”
