Cookie Policy
The cookies this site sets, what each one is for, and how to turn them off.
A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep so it can recognise the same visitor twice. This page sets out what this site uses them for.
Essential cookies
A small number keep the site working: remembering that you have answered the cookie banner, and remembering whether you asked for the light or the dark version of the site. These carry no identifier that is useful to anyone else and cannot be switched off without breaking the thing they remember.
Analytics cookies
These count visits so we can tell which articles are worth writing more of. They record the page, the referrer and an approximate region. They are not used to build an advertising profile, and reading data is not shared with third parties for marketing. Where your local law requires consent for these, they are not set until you give it.
Turning them off
Every browser can block or clear cookies from its settings, for this site alone or for all sites. Nothing here stops working if you do, apart from the parts that were remembering something for you. Most browsers also offer a private window, which discards them when you close it.
Changes
If we add a cookie that does something new, this page is where it will be described.
